ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARTIES SYDNEY AND MELBOURNE

These two, end of year functions again proved to be very popular with 120 attending in Sydney and 105 in Melbourne.

The Melbourne dinner, clashed with the visit to that city from Oprah Winfrey with 10’s of thousands of fans flooding into the city, so parking near our hotel venue was difficult to find. However the attendees partied on till close, at 11pm and were entertained in grand style with the Lucia, some superb Swedish cuisine, arranged and personally prepared by our Swedish chef Robbie Oijvall. The songbook was popular, with each table trying to outperform the others, followed by the famous schnapps toast. We were delighted to hear from Swedish Church Minister, Per Anders, who delivered the story and spirit of Christmas time in Sweden, with the long darkness broken, when the Lucia arrives at the homes to bring the light and celebration.

The food for the Sydney party, held at the Four Seasons Hotel, was prepared by Robbie and we were not disappointed. The regular attendees gave the food, drinks and lucky door prizes, the thumbs up and a great night was had by all.

We were entertained in grand style with the Lucia, by the children and parents of the Swedish school and that was very special. Not to be outdone the tables were in fine voice with the songbook.

A fitting end to a busy year for all the guests and I again thank all of our sponsors and lucky door prize givers for making both events so special.

A big thanks goes to Elin Arnott our Administrative officer, for her tireless effort in organizing these two Christmas parties. Thanks also to Birger Junghus for helping with the program and finding, our Chef, Robbie.
